Morellino di Scansano is a DOCG wine, a typical product of the province of Grosseto. In 1978, the wine was already DOC grade, then, after the wine harvest of 2007, the higher degree of acknowledgement was awarded. It is noted for its ruby red pomegranate colour and it is recognizable thanks to its unique smell which becomes perfumed, intense, ethereal, fine and pleasant with age.
The taste is slightly dry, warm, stern and a little tannic. Morellino di Scansano is excellent when accompanying meat dishes, in particular, meat casserole, meat skewers, fried pig liver, roast pork and wild boar cooked in sauce.
