55 km from the Hotel Prategiano in Maremma Tuscany: The 15 medieval towers (a reminder of the 72 towers that once existed during the period of greatest splendor) announce the town's magnificence.
Characterized by medieval-style architecture, the city boasts the presence of 15 towers, in memory of the 72 who were present during the heyday of the village, the oldest among them is the Rognosa Tower, while the more massive is the Torre del Podesta also called Torre Grossa. The city is characterized by well 2 surrounding walls which open in respective four doors giving access to the city; At the highest point of the city, between Porta Quercecchio and Porta San Matteo, we find the Rock of Montestaffoli, which offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.
The splendor continues after entering one of the town gates, that open in the double enclosed wall, and walking up the silent streets flanked with ancient buildings. The streets unexpectedly lead into three squares on the summit of the town, where the severe medieval buildings that surround them may be admired.
